Dutch engineering firm Enveniti has unveiled an air purification system that acts like a giant vacuum cleaner, sucking in polluted air and filtering out fine particles from car exhaust and heavy industry.

The eight-metre-long steel filter is designed to be placed on top of buildings and can clean up to 800,000 meters.3  Remove almost all fine particles to prevent them from harming the health of city dwellers.

The system was unveiled in Amsterdam earlier this week. "It works like a giant vacuum cleaner... A big column of air comes out through this filter and it's completely clean."  He added that the technology has already attracted interest from other businesses, governments and airports.
